16k^2+12k+12k+9

Group the expression
(16k^2+12k)+(12k+9)
Factor the groups
4k(4k+3)+3(4k+3)
Now you have
(4k+3)(4k+3)

This may seem obvious, but since you are multiply the same thing togther you square them.
(4k+3)^2
