I been thinking a three layer defense system, first an electric fence, then a hole with alligators, and at the end fresh and newly deputized minute man. but I would like to take your ideas, to protect the USA from terrorists and whatever.

You want to bet they going to erase this question, they don't want to deal with the truth, this country was created by outsiders, but it comes a time when you have to say you are not welcome anymore, for the well being of the people that is already here.

Just drop a big bomb on Mexico and wa-la! End of problem.

Come to think of it, we should do that with Iraq (after we get our guys out of course) Israel, Africa and some other countries that have caused us nothing buy grief.

I don't know how it is in other state's but in Texas we have the border and at 20 miles back we have another check point that they stop all traffic heading north at. I believe we should have the main fence back at the 20 mile check point and keep the border zone open and create a special trade zone on both sides of the border 20 miles deep on each side. You would see many plants locate there and no visa's required so people could work on either side but if you want to go farther north you must have a visa if you are not US citizen.

Something more than we have now. I like Bush, but that fact that are borders are still open really pisses me off. You do not need a bill to pass, to start protecting our borders. First, build the damn fence. Employ more border patrol agents. Use new technologies to patrol and such.
I served in the Navy on subs. We drilled all the time for different casualty scenarios. One was flooding. The first action you take is to find and stop the source of the flooding. That goes for nearly any casualty. So, with the illegal issue, first things first.
STOP THE DAMN FLOOD OF ILLEGALS!!! Stop the potential open gate for terrorists, new diseases and viruses, ect. 6 years after 9/11 and apperently some havent learned a lesson because our borders are still wide open. Beware, if we dont do something soon, liberals get elected, and we continue to lose morales we once held and protected here in America, things are going to get ugly and really really bad fast. I hate to say it, but its the truth.

I was thinking electrical fence, a rather tall one and also maybe some pitbulls to be used as guard dogs in the busier sections where more illegals might be inclined to try to get through somehow. They wouldn't think of going through then.

I read the childish answers....but this is really a good question.

The border can be scraped bare, graveled, and plant poisons used, maybe 200 yards wide from the edge of the river or where the plotted line is determined to be...to run the length of the border......and a horse mounted patrol, well armed..to monitor 24 hours, with a dozen or so helicopter gunships on standby...we actually CAN DEFEND our border if we were allowed..

Also very useful, is a reward system (bounty) for Americans to capture illegals entering in the zone...

Illegals in the zone of course would be subject to arrest and detention, and it should be legal for any American citizen to perform an arrest of a foreign invader. Simply reporting them is no longer a viable option.

We need to stand up and be counted as Americans.........

Passing laws and talking about forming committees to investigate, and consultants to overview options........this is worthless stuff.....................common sense is all we need

if aliens invading our country knew they would meet armed resistance, hey......guess what.........they stop coming

and if they choose to become violent....we would respond in kind to defend ourselves..

defending our home is a God given right.

there are very clear methods that would work easily, to defend our borders.

Also, if states enacted legislation to limit entry to their border based on not allowing federal fugitives to cross their border, and an illegal alien is a federal fugitive....then states can raise a volunteer force....to catch these criminals, and also help defend their borders where the feds have failed.

no where is it written that states must allow federal criminals unimpeded access and travel through their lawful territory.

I remember reading somewhere that all the terrorists who participated in the September 11 attacks entered the country legally. So, obviously, whether someone comes here with our government's blessings or without them, they could be dangerous. Or they could be useful, productive potential-citizens. "Illegal" doesn't equal "bad" any more than "legal" necessarily equals "good."

Killing Mexicans at the border would just be an unhealthy outlet for American nationalistic fervor.

We should put the freakin white house and capitol building on the border with no fences. Then force all of them to give any speeches in both english and spanish.

First find the money for it before planning it.

I'm sure if we never got involved in the Iraq war, the 2 trillion or so dollars could've paid for the fence.
