I've always wanted to start dancing because I would LOVE to, but I grew up with parents who aren't really into singing and dancing and didn't let me when I was little :<

I'm currently sixteen years old and I heard some people just practice dancing in their room from watching a music video or something? Is it stupid to practice dancing in your room by copying or following something? I tried once but somehow I just feel really stupid and can't go on x.x;;

I'm no no position to go enroll into a dance studio or dance class--my parents would never approve anyways :<

Thank you! No mean comments please ._.;;

It's totally fine to practice in your room! It does depend some on what kind of dancing you're trying to pick up (independent such as hip hop, or partner such as ballroom).

For independent dances it's really easy to pick up moves from videos because you can pause, play at half speed, etc. Whatever you need to do to see exactly what they are doing. I do it all the time. Most of the cool moves they do in music videos are very simple once you break them down. And check yourself in the mirror, a lot of the time all you have to do to look sharp is exaggerate your leg movements, which can take time to get used to. There's no need to feel stupid because nobody is watching you.

If you want to learn any kind of partner dance, recruit a friend to learn with you. Partner dancing is not hard, but it's impossible to learn spins and dips by yourself. ;-)

Firt you need to empty & clean out the garage, Then Install a solid wood flooring And you can also put up those really large dance mirrors on the walls all around Install a ballet pole (I don't know what its called) by the mirrors, on the wall Install a Sound System with Speakers Decorate! Butt if you're 11 and don't have that much money... Empty and clean out the Garage Put those gym mats things on the floor, Add a mirror or two - Get a CD player or something, Decorate! =) Good Luck!

dance your heart out girl!!! ive been at a dance studio for 10 years and i still feel more comfortable danceing by myself in my room. i dont think its stupid at all, i wish i could learn some of the dances i see on music videos. dont feel uncomfortable dancing in the privacy of your own room, that is silly. just be yourself and dance all you want, maybe u cant enroll in class, but u can always just dance for fun by yourself!!!

I think it's fine to dance in your room!!!! I mean it's like getting free dancing lessons!hahahah! Hey don't worry about it if it is what you like to do then do it!! I think it sucks that your parents won't let you do what you love to do!!! You should really try to talk your parents into it,hey maybe if you bugg them enough the might let you try it for a little while!!!! Just tell them to let you take lessons for a little while,who knows you might have natrual talent! Heck you could even be a famous dancer one day!! U never know!!!! I hope this helps you!!;)

ha well I would say if you really want to dance then by all means go ahead! They have tapes where you can learn dance moves like Sabrina Bryan. Dance schools are better if you want to do competition, but if you just want to learn how so if you go to a party, rent a dancing tape from the library or blockbuster and learn in your room!

Its not stupid to practice, but it is smarter to practice with someone. Find some guy who needs practice, and learn together. Most guys need more help than girls in this area. i went to a dance class one time, and there were 12 guys and only four girls. It made practicing very difficult.

Okay,
it is NOT, repeat NOT stupid to practice in your room
take it from someone who does it all the time
if you love dance, truly love it it will naturally NOT feel odd
when i dance to my music, i get lost in my movements
i dont care, i relax , i lose my self, even if its in my own room
maby it isnt your thing- but try, lose your slef, concentrate on movement only and let your self loose in the music....
good luck

Practicing in your room is good -- maybe you could get a friend to help you , show you some moves -- most dancing is sort of free style anyway....

You should dance any time and anywhere you can. Dance is an expression of the body and it will bring you happiness and joy. It is one of the things you can do that are totally free feeling.
