Demand of our representatives the establishment of a free, democratic and multicultural government in Palestine, with right of return for all Palestinians and their descendents, since many have been in exile since 1948; a complete withdrawal from Iraq,so they may conclude their contest for dominance quickly, and let it be done with; and no further talk of war with Iran, which is harming no one. We must also publicize the role in our government of an insidious organization known as the Jewish Institute for National Security Affairs (JINSA),which has plotted several wars in the Mideast since 1975. It's only called jewish to protect it from criticism; the top dogs are Dick Cheney and Connie Rice. Most of all,we need to publicize all of the above, with posters, letters to the editor, guest editorials and demanding answers from candidates.

The question is what can you and I do right now, it does not ask any of us how to solve the situation which has been the subject of many efforts by world leaders, doxens of meetings by and between Israeli and Palestinian leaders, all of the major middle Eastern countries, and the major countries of the world.

Writing letters might give you momentary pleasure but let me assure you that they will do no good at all, they will just stack up and probably never be reviewed.

It will have to be left to the parties to the conflict to achieve a compromise of their choosing. No one can force either party to a position which their people will not endorse.

If both sides cannot achieve this for their respective people then the problem will continue on as it has for the last five and a half decades for another indeterminate period of time.

A two-state solution is the only way peace in the Middle East will ever be achieved. And for that to happen, the West has got to stop so blatantly favouring Israel. The first step is for the West to stop being so childish about the Palestinians democratically electing a government they didn't like and restore funding. The second step is for the Israelis to demolish their apartheid wall and allow Palestinians free right of movement. The third step is for the US to drastically cut its funding and arms supply to Israel. Only then will the balance be fair enough for serious negotiations to take place. I'm not holding my breath.

The only solution is what Yeshua (Jesus) showed me in prayer in the Church of the Holy Sepulchre in Jerusalem.

His followers on both sides must give first loyalty to Him, above their national and racial loyalties. Messianic Jews and Arab Christians must be the salt and light He wants them to be to their respective peoples, to the politicians, and to the whole world.

They must reach out to each other in prayer, fellowship and faith. They must become one people, recognisably so to other Arabs and Jews.

This seems impossible but it's not, with God, and it's the only way. Messianic Jews have more opportunity to do this than the Arabs, as they have more resources and in any case the Arabs behind the Wall have no opportunity to meet with them except in exceptional circumstances.

There are a few small initiatives in this direction but this must increase dramatically and be taken much more seriously.

Unfortunately (I'm generalising here of course, but necessarily so) the Messianics are too wrapped up in and proud of their Jewishness to be very distinguishable from other Jews, and usually see Arabs as the enemy and the Israeli state as God's instrument. While Christian Arabs have issues with "collaborating" with the enemy and being considered traitors by the Muslims. This has to end.

Amen/Ameen.
