I wish this particular question wouldn't have come to yahoo answers because it's so controversial. However, this is my view. If it has to do with the safety, health, or life of the mother being in danger, I believe that the woman should have a right to choose abortion. If the woman is a child between the ages of 10 and 13, she should have a right to have an abortion. Because a child that young should not have her own child. Her life would be in great danger in those circumstances because the chances are she is still developing her body...and everything that she needs to be able to give birth. Also, if someone is raped, they should have a choice. Because chances are, they aren't going to be emotionally capable of having this child. A constantly emotionally unhealthy mother is likely going to have problems in her pregnancy. So, anyway.......that's my spiel for the main reasons to have an abortion. However, in any circumstances, I think the woman should have the right to choose.....I would never take that right away from a woman.......I just don't agree with having an abortion because you don't want kids....an individual should go on the pill or have surgery or ask her partner to have surgery if she doesn't want kids!

I'm sorry the girl went against your wishes and got an abortion. That should have been a decision that the two of you made together.
I think that babies should be born to parents who love them. I think that babies should be born to people who are responsible and will be able to take care of them. I think that people who aren't ready to be parents either shouldn't have sex or should take very careful precautions to make sure they don't get pregnant. I think that my uterus is an internal organ and that only I should decide what I do with my organs. I think that the government passing laws governing the use of internal organs is creepy and vaguely 1984-ish. I also think that abortion should be an option. Personally, I'd only use that option if continuing the pregnancy would endanger my health- but that's my choice. That choice may not be right for everyone else. Part of being pro-choice is allowing others to make that decision for themselves.
Even if you don't think people should get abortions, do you think the people who decide to should die? That's a possibility if abortion is made illegal again. Botched abortions were common and often conducted under unsafe conditions. With abortion legal it can be regulated and those who have them can be assured that it's done safely and by someone licensed.

The earth's population is six and a half billion and growing, and there simply isn't enough arable land to feed all, not enough water for everyone, poverty is growing exponentially, whole countries are in a dramatic situation, so why add more people to the problem? Furthermore, there are many dramatic and good reasons for having abortions, nobody has the right to refuse an abortion because of personal beliefs. Abortions do not kill babies, they terminate embryos and foeti. I have also noticed that most of those who are so "pro-life" and "anti-abortion" are ardent supporters of post-partum abortions in the guise of wars and death penalties.
Furthermore, you have not been through an abortion, the woman whom you impregnated did, so you definitely do not know what abortion is all about since you didn't personally undergo the procedure nor go through all the difficult time it takes to make such a choice. A woman's body belongs to her and her alone, she is the one to decide what to do if she gets pregnant - it is her business, her choice, and nobody else's.

Because a baby isn't a consequence. It's a human being. Why do you feel the need to "punish" someone for having sex by forcing them to give birth? That doesn't just punish the mother. It punishes the child who grows up feeling either abandoned or in a home where he isn't wanted.
*You can never "know what abortion is all about" until you've experienced one. Also, raising a child takes a hell of a lot more than money.

If you think that it is not "right" than even rape would not be good reason. An abortion is an abortion regardless of how the fetus got there, right? By saying it is okay for some people and not others, really is pro-choice, its just YOUR personal choice.
It is a very personal decision and is a topic that people will never agree on.

I personally don't agree with abortion unless there's something very wrong with the baby or the mother, or in the case of incest or rape, and only because with rape...the attacker has mental issues I wouldn't want transferred to my child. I also think there should be NO partial birth/3rd trimester abortions. If you can't decide whether or not you want to raise a child by the THIRD TRIMESTER...you shouldn't have that option anymore.
Most people who have abortions, do it because they don't want to waste 9 months of their life carrying a child they don't want...they think they can't afford to raise it.. it's an embarrassment to their family or came at a bad time in their career. I think it's just plain selfish to have an abortion in those cases, when there are people who want to adopt.
YES I know there are accidents, but most of these 'unwanted pregnancies' are due to people not taking the proper precautions. We all make mistakes. My own son was born when I was 17, and I'm 42 now and pregnant with my second child. One was due to not being prepared...and the other was truly a birth control malfunction. Still...I raised my son alone and this child will have two loving parents. An abortion would have been easier, but my son didn't deserve the death penalty because I was irresponsible.

How about not forcing people that have been raped to live through 9 months of torture re-living every moment.
How about to save the life of a mother when pregnancy complications occur

1. because people separate wanting to have sex from wanting to have a family or a baby, whether they should or not is up for discussion.
2. because people disagree on when the fertilized egg becomes a baby.
3. because people are concerned about the social and financial consequences of an unplanned pregnancy, whether they give the baby up for adoption or not

Son, you don't know jack. The worst thing about your fool rant is that you're sitting there trying to tell others how they're going to behave as if you were God Himself. Guess what: You ain't.
My womenfolk's decision regarding abortion is theirs and theirs alone, and if you try to interfere, you'll deal with me. And son, I'm your worst nightmare!

I totally agree with you. If people could take responsibility for their own actions the world would be a better place.
But next time you go on a morale tirade use the spell checker. You are making people who are for pro-life look like county bumpkins without an education.
