Do you have any idea of the time and money it takes to maintain an inground pool? You'd need to do daily water tests, chemical balancing, daily skimming, vauuming as needed, backwashing, filter maintenance, closing prep, opening maintenance and monitoring. It's not easy and you'd have to give up time daily and weekly. If you're willing to make that sacrifice then good for you! If not you may want to rethink getting the pool.
Chances are your mom has her reasons, have you asked her why she doesn't want a pool? Saying you will take care of it and doing it are two very different things, chances are she feels she will have to take over some of your responsibilties and that's not something she has time for. Believe it or not, parents usually have good reasons for saying no to high-end purchases. Did you know her homeowners insurance will go up marginally if she has a pool? You have to figure that expense into the cost. Also, is there room for a pool? Is there something else she is saving for? If she is paying for it, it is ultimately her decision.
You can do the Sunland Pools "Pool In A Box" kit for as little at $2000. However, maintenance and supplies are not cheap either. The cost of the pool really depends on how much you WANT to pay for it.
My advice is to ask your mom why not and weigh her reasons against yours and see where the rational decision really lies.
Good luck!

A nice one is about 40,000, they cost around 2,000 a year to maintain. There are cheap drop in ones that cost abut 10,000, plus the labor of digging the hole out. They are not allowed in many California communities, as, beign cheap, they tend to leak, effecting both ground water and the neighbors.
Also keep in mind that your mothers insurance rates on her house will get much higher and she most likely willl need additional fencing installed.

You could probably convince her by offering to pay for a portion or all of it and agreeing to pay for and maintain the upkeep. Pools are a lot of work and cost quite a bit to maintain.

It would cost a few hundred to a few thousand, depending on the size and landscape. The best way to convince your mom is to get a job and pay for the damn thing yourself.

Wait until you have a place of your own to get a pool. Until then, go to your local pool.
