Many people speak of wanting or seeking happiness, however, this assumes that happiness comes without a cost. What are you prepared to sacrifice to be happy?

Your question is very realistic. But is this what the world wants for tomorrow ? If you sacrifice something to get something else in return, you are only following the old system. But if one day you wake up and you discover that you do not need to sacrifice in order to get something else in return, it might be too late because you have already expose the kind of person you are now. One who is scared to be
" abnormal ".

If we look deep enough, we really are not capable of 'sacrificing' anything. What ever we got , was given to us. So where is the sacrifice ? Anyway, we do not take back anything when we leave.
If we can just maintain this awareness, and live, no big sacrifice is needed to bring joy to us. We just happen to do what is needed to be done in any situation, according to the capability 'afforded' to us by the tools & means we got.
It is the conscious choice of action, with a sense of detachment, and yet with very intense involvement, that can give us this joy, happiness, whatever... !

Yes unfortunately happiness does come with a price.
When I really want something I put my heart and soul into it.
If I have to bleed than I shall;

Although happiness really doesn't last that long and we as humans will never be completely satisfied , I believe that we should do anything in our power (as long it isn't hurting anybody else) to be happy.

For me right now I want to accomplish my goals ; whether it makes me happy or not doesn't matter because for now that is the thing I want most.
To achieve these goals that I have I am willing to sweat , and shed blood (not another's) in order to get what I want. The declaration states that freedom is also the pursuit of happiness and I deeply believe that to be happy (in my case) is to achieve my very goals and overcome the obstacles that have been set out for me.

Someone once said that the only way to be happy is to be content with what you have. For me that is impossible and while I value my relationships with other people and the things I have already accomplished I am not satisfied yet.
I still have to accomplish the things I have set out to do if I never do then I will never be happy. I might be content later on in my life but CONTENT or SATISFIED isn't enough for me , I have to be HAPPY

I think happiness is to a large degree based on your attitude. Yes, I may hate my job today: it's boring and it's too much work and that causes me to be unhappy, but then I try to see the positives, such as: at least I have a job, it's pretty well paid, etc. Once you bring that back to mind, that particular cause of unhappiness goes away (at least for awhile). I think that works pretty well with anything. Now, that doesn't mean you shouldn't have any aspirations (such as getting a better job), I just think it's no reason to be miserable and unhappy until you do. Now, obviously if you lose a loved one, you're going to be sad about it for some time, but generally you'll get over it at some point. I just think people who are unhappy all the time will not suddenly become happy by "sacrificing" anything. They need to change their attitude or seek medical help (in case of actual depression).

The only thing I won't sacrifice for happiness is morality.
Considering that it is my morality which guides my
happiness it would be counter-intuitive to do so.
Therefore, it is the soul which determines the path
to happiness, and the only happiness which requires
sacrifice is physical happiness, so it is in the soul's
discretion to decide what is in the best interest of the
body's effort vs reward(which is determined by the tools
of the mind) with morality factored in.

That's a tough question. My problem with it is that I don't know a stage of absolute happiness. Even the most joyous task becomes tedious and mundane. The last thing I'd want to do is saw off my leg or something silly to find out that I got bored with the state that once provided a smile.

So I'll pass on the happy pills for right now and just accept my sporadic states of glee.

I think at some point in every ones life they are prepared to sacrifice everything just to be happy..But anything that makes you lose something you love so dearly isn't worth sacrificing at all.People just have to live day by day wanting and dreaming of something they don't have and when the day that comes and they get it maybe it won't be such a shock to them everything they could of lost but they didn't let it get in the way of them wanting something so bad.

It would be better if you ask me what I can not sacrifice.

I can not sacrifice my kids, my husband, my mother, my freedom....
I can sacrifice myself but maybe this is not enough or important.

To speak about something concrete: I sacrificed my career for my family and I am happy I did it until now. Will see in the future if it is OK.

well its only one thing that you own, the rest belongs to the earth and it will be recycled and claim for a period of time buy someone else. I sacrifice my soul on ice to stand as a testimony of love. The flesh will return to dust someday but maybe what I've experience can help someone I pray to avoid walking in some of the filthy puddles I've step in.
