When you get here go on craigslist.com and locate your state and city. Then you can look under furniture for prices for used items. If all you are looking at is matresses and groceries I would allocate 100 per matress and about 400 for start up groceries which would include all your toiletries and kitchen spices and condiments.

it depends on how much you buy, but in my area of the US about 50$
