March, 2004; just made up my mind that a cigarette (or cigar, or pipe) would never cross my lips again. With that will power, and the help of patches to get me over the rough part of the withdrawal, I haven't been near one since. I've been tempted, though. (Of course, having asthma and emphysema was a powerful motivator, too.)

I started smoking at age 13 and stopped at age 16. Between ages 17-21, I never smoked more than 5 cigarettes a year. I'm definately controlled with my smoking habits. It's my 'other' habits that i need help on.

I've never been a smoker but I am proud of you for quitting. I know with a little bit of decidation and determation you'll do it. Just have will power and when you get the urge chew some gum but good job.

Yes, 26 years ago. It was easy,. A doctor told me that nicotine was raising my blood pressure, and I haven't smoked since. I do like the smell of a cigarette in the air, however, but not in a closed room or car.

i quit 3 1/2 weeks ago, and am committed to never smoking again. i'm middle aged and (stupidly) started smoking in earnest about 12 years ago with a heavy addiction to it in the last 5 years. (they were my "best" friend that i thought about all the time) i'm good with it, and know that i cannot light one up again, or the habit will continue. i'm done, done, AND done with that crappy habit. and good for you quitting!! congrats!!
