No, the NFL has found the perfect number of games to play. People who say that they should play any more are crazy. Look at how many players get injured, imagine how high injury totals would be. You cannot compare the NFL to the NBA, MLB or NHL. The football is the only collision sport in the US. Besides football seasons are shorter through every level of play. Because players cannot play two or three games a week.
According to the ESPN Radio staff the NFL has the highest number of fans in the male 18-35 range. People are hungry for football it is the only sport that America isn't tired of. Reasons?
1. The season doesn't last too long.
2. The NFL has a one game championship. That's why super bowl is like a holiday. The world series, the Stanley cup and the NBA finals are like Hanuka vs the NFL's super bowl (Christmas). Look at the world cup final one game, one winner. If it is best of 7 why watch until game 4?
The NFL isn't broke so don't try and fix it. The NBA and NHL had horrible championship series ratings so why do people think the NFL should change?

It's too long. Anyone who's played or extensively dealt with pro football will tell you one game a week is plenty. The body needs at least that long just to recover from an average game.
Training camp is too long and the preseason is too long. A 16-game season is enough, as well. Unfortunately, it won't get shorter because fans are far too willing to keep paying top dollar to watch practices and practice games and there's no way an owner -- much less all 32 owners -- will pass up more money.
Now, as a fan, yeah, it might be nice to go with about two pre-season games and maybe 18 or 20 regular-season games. It would keep the same number of overall games. However, the longer the season, the more teams will be out of playoff contention in the final weeks.

I think they need to make the season a bit longer. I would just do away with pre-season all together... well actually I would just cut it down to 1 week. The coaches do need to see what their new players can do when playing at live speed. So yeah... drop 3 weeks of pre-season and add on 3 games to the NFL schedule.
Also I think the bigger problem is that the off season is way too long. I mean really, do you really need 6 months to rest up? Guys with injuries yeah... but football has the longest off-season and I think it's ridiculous. Hockey is right up there with the NFL as far as brutality goes and they don't even have that long. I say shorten the off season and their shouldn't be a problem.

I think it is okay the way it is but I wouldn't complain if it was extended just a little while longer. The way the season is set now it doesn't interfere with too many other sports that football fans enjoy. Plus it give the players a chance to rest up for the next season and us fans something to look forward to. Oh, don't forget some of the players have 9 to 5 jobs in the off season.

It can go either way, meaning its too short or its just right. Personally, i think its just right. Whether you hate it or like it, Preseason is a vital part of evaluating NFL talent. 4 weeks is a good amount of time to evaluate back ups and rookies because lets face it, one or two good weeks doesn't mean they can consistently perform at that level, which means they need to evalute them over a longer period of time. This length is also good because it gives your new Free Agents or Traded players a chance to get accustom to their new offense defensive schemes in an actual game enviorment and playing speed. So for Preseason in the NFL i believe it's just right.
As for the regular season, 16 games seems like a good amount as well. The grind, brutality, and punishment the nFL dishes out every sunday is very extreme, and there is only so long a players body can hold up against it. 16 games gives you a fairly large, even number games so that the season is not too short, yet it doesnt go on forever and comes on every single day like in Baseball or Basketball. Not to mention, theres alot more planning, preparation, and scheming that takes place in football than in the other sports.
If they were to extend the games, they would need to include more bye weeks and possibly shave off a few minutes on the games so that the players are completely exhausted every single day, but i think the set up is very good at the moment.

As a fan yes I think football season is too short but as a player it is just fine!!! The changes that I would make are only have two preseason games and make the other two regular season games!

If it were up to me, they would play 365 games a year :-)
But really, the actual season length is fine. The 16 games and playoffs are a huge grind on these players. It would be a really different game if they played even twice a week. These big guys probably would break down a lot earlier in their careers. As well, the playing life of a RB would be more realistically 4 or 5 years if having to play more than twice a week.
I would love to see more games, but really the quality of play will suffer.

I personally would like a longer season. I'm sure the players think it's ust long enough. I think if 2 or 3 more games were added they would need to add another bye week. The playoffs are set up perfect. The Super Bowl is good as just one game.

No, I think they play the right amount of games. The problem is that the rest of the year is too long! I'm pretty much done with basketball when college basketball is over in April. Baseball has become too boring with no player/team loyalties, and less charismatic players. So that leaves a gap of about 4 months of crappy sports; racing, golf, tennis, etc.

Honestly as much as I love football and my COLTS (GO COLTS) I don't know how to make it longer as far as the dirty details, I just know that my husband and I could go for at least three more weeks a season. Basketball is way too long (yes I am a Hoosier but I hate b-ball) . Good question.
