I'm currently a 3rd year at University of Texas, and I'm seeking a degree in Economics with a minor in Business Foundations, and I'm just wondering what jobs are available for me out there.

I am an upperclass engineer at the University of Virginia. Many of my friends who graduate from our economics program usually work for large banks and other financial institutions.

Lucrative jobs in today's market with an Econ BA?

I can't think of one, unless you're a very confident, brilliant standout 4.0 student. I mean some people get lucky, but many don't. Even with awesome grades, you should still take the GMAT and ace it and then go to a top MBA program, or ace the LSAT and go to a top law school. Bachelor's degrees aren't going to get you a steady career well into the future.

Things are changing too quickly for our society to be able to expect riches from a typical college degree like economics. I mean no offense, but unless you stand way out somehow, you'll be thrown in with the pool of tens of thousands of economics majors across the country and for that many applicants, no amazing, lucrative jobs exist anymore.

Whatever your grades, plan on grad school. Econ and business majors have to know the right people to strike it rich, and since you pose this question on Y! Answers, I'm assuming you don't exactly have nepotism working in your favor. Grad school will open more doors and help you feel more comfortable entering the job market.
