I wouldnt think of connecting to someone without asking their permission. It would be like showing up on their doorstep unannounced. Very bad manners.

No, I've never been asked and I've never asked anyone. I figured that sending them an email would feel more intrusive...although now that I know how that whole email thingy works, I see that it wouldn't...
Is it considered bad manners to connect without permission?

I don't ask, I usually wait to connect to someone after I've sent them messages though. Or I'll connect to them after they connect to me.
That's nice how someone actually asked you though.
;o)

Yes, anyone that knows me asks, if they don't ask they get a message back denying it and I say, "Sorry, I don't add people I don't know!"

If they don't know me why would they want to add me and visa versa. It's only polite to ask first and if they don't have the manners to ask then I'm not interested.

i sort of just connect, and they connect w/o asking too. If you needed to ask, the button wouldn't be there.

If you answered yes when you signed up, you gave permission. Right?
