I thought I had my eyes and heart open to myself and my relationship and the needs of such. That resulted in thinking that things were o.k. Wow! Life can really carry you off in some other direction then what maybe best.

The belief that a "false belief" isn't conducive to the
recognition of a more appropriate revision of the belief.
The belief being the answer to a question, the "false
belief" becomes a continuation of the question.
Therefore, awareness of the "false belief" assists
in procuring the more appropriate belief as an answer
to the question; to keep an open mind is to potentially
answer all questions.

That "The West" would accept the democratic election of Hamas in Palestine, maintain dialogue and support, and insist Israel paid the elected government the tax money it collected on Palestine's behalf and implement the past UN resolutions on borders - and that from this, despite the impracticable idiocy of extremists on both sides, Israel would retreat to a border which allowed an economically viable and cohesive Palestinian State - thereby creating a situation Hamas would have to accept, proceeding to increasing peace, and more stability in the Middle East. But, of course, that's fairyland, isn't it?

I'm not sure if it was the most recent - but the biggest false belief I overcame was - that you can help or change other people.
I had to come to realize that no one can change anyone else - it is completely up to that person if they want to ruin their life.
You can try to help them - but ultimately it is up to them. It has been proven to me again and again in my personal life and with the kids that I work with in a locked residential treatment center.

That I have the ability to help everyone solve their problems. I am going to be a therapist and I will have to learn that not everyone can be 'saved' from themselves or want to be saved, so learning that I am not the savior of lost and tortured souls is something I have had to overcome.
