I read in the depression of the 1930's Americans had absolutely no money and not too many jobs. So bartering skills, useful home-made products, home grown food, horses, cattle, chickens, served in some cases as money.
Apparently, the old USSR reached that point also, when it collapsed.
How will you handle it?

I'm a licensed plumber, my services are always in demand.

During good times, I make money building new buildings, during tough times I repair old buildings. I can also barter my services for needed goods.

No matter what happens people will always need, and pay for, running water and flushing toilets.

I would handle it just like Robin Hood only this will not be a fairy tale. We will not suffer because the world is plagued with crooked republicans.
