Hard work and talent will get you far. But if you add into the equation "the right people", it can take you a lot farther down the road of success.

Yes, you are right. When it comes to being in a new area it doesn't hurt to be friendly and honest. I can tell you that most of the jobs I have gotten were from experience and knowing the right people. It can be over done though. I mean if you are using a woman to screw all of her friends it can back fire. I was never a fan of that. I don't lead people on for personal gain.

Absolutely. Everything has some sort of network associated with it. Different people have different connections, influences, ideas etc. A referral is still the most powerful tool in business today. This is not saying that you should only associate with people that can get you somewhere; having contacts and associates who are connected can be a tremendous help. I became friends with some of the managers at my old job. When I was looking for work, they all assisted me in referrals to their friends and associates. this works for club hook ups, parties, discounts etc. You can join on line groups, organizations etc that meet your interest.
