if you have a kiddie pool or large metal wash bucket us that. if they are big fish might want use two or three. if you can let some of their water from their current pond go in thier hold buckets and then in there new pond. if it normally warm were you live keep them warm and if it is cold keep them cold.

good luck

I am not sure how big these fish are but they will be fine in a temporary holding tank that is filled with their current pond water and an air pump/water circulator to ensure adequate oxygenation of the water until they are rehomed in their new pond. If the fish are small, a 5 gallon bucket will work just fine. If they are large, you can purchase a 30 or 50 gallon rubbermaid storage tub from walmart or home depot and use that. Just make sure they have room to swim around. You don't want them packed too tightly in a small container. I have successfully temporarily housed both pond fish and saltwater aquarium fish this way (and even moved them across country without losing even one).

I am sure they will really enjoy their new, larger pond!

All of the above ideas are great!!!! We had to do the same things at my mother-in-law's house, she upgraded her pond had 4 fish and we had used the Giant storage container from walmart it was blue and we hadn't used the lid though, i would recommend if you have some kind of mesh wire/cloth put it over the top, something came along and took two of the fish away... they were in the shade when they were in the pond and so we left them in the shade too... and used the same water... good luck...

well i guess keep them in some kind of temporary container I've heard it is good to transfer some of the existing water in a new place ( easier to adjust) like moving and taking your things w/ you. i would consult a vet I'm sure they are trained in fish too. maybe a temp fish tank if it's 2 days. but maybe move them out of habitat into temp habitat until absolutely necessary. good luck how much fun but work a new pond can be!.

Plastic kiddie pool or large rubber maid tub will do. If you can get the filter to run in either of these even better. Do put in an airstone. Check the water perameters frequently if they stay in there for more than 2 or 3 days.

The larger the container the better, and don't forget aeration. Keep it in the shade. Circulate and/or aerate and good luck.
One more thing, make sure the temporary container isn't treated with a toxic (usually anti-mildew) substance. A horse water trough is safe.

Buy big plastic basket from walmart, fill with old water and put your fish there.
