Specifically the higher apes kept in captivity. Im guessing that in the wild they wouldnt live much longer than the fertile age. Can you imagine a Gorilla with PMS or mood swings?

It may not be the way it happens in women. But mammals do have a stage when their ovary becomes nonfunctional and after that they don't become pregnant. The term menopause is related to cessation of the menstrual cycle which is related to a stage when ovary does not ovulate. A parallel situation does exist in mammals.

Wow, what a strange question. I guess it's possible. When I was young we had monkeys and the males would become very aggressive when they reached adolescence due to raging hormones. So I guess menopause is a possibility
