Things to look for:
Whether the song is fast or slow, you want something with a strong beat that you can cut to (or set action to). For example, you can do many things with a big drum or cymbal hit; bat hits ball, ball hits mitt on strikeout, players high-five, player pumps fist in celebration.
Look for something upbeat. That can mean something fast, but it can also be something slow and powerful. If they won a championship, for example celebrations and trophy/medal presentations look great in slow motion with a slower song.
Lyrics are important. If you're going to use a song with lyrics, make sure the message of the song is at least somewhat relevant to the video. Don't just pick a song because it sounds cool, but has nothing to do with the content.
There are songs that are not necessarily about baseball, but can be used in a video such as this. For example, any epic-sounding movie track; for example, stuff from "Pirates of the Caribbean" or "Rocky" can work.
Other good ones, for lyrics and sound:
"Eye of the Tiger" - Survivor (I've used this once for HS baseball)
"Dream On" - Aerosmith (Used it 1x for HS baseball, 1x for college soccer)
*Also, check out on Youtube "First 100 Years of Sports" - great ESPN video, this song was used for the last part.
"Takin' Care of Business" - Bachman Turner Overdrive
"All Star" - Smash Mouth
"We Will Rock You" - Queen
"Final Countdown" - Europe
Keep in mind, you don't have to use the whole song. A concise video packed with action is better than one that goes on for a long time when there isn't enough great media to fill that time. You can cut the song so that you hear one or two key verses, a chorus, and an instrumental part, for example. Some of the above songs go on for four minutes or more. The trick is to remove parts of a song without leaving the sound of an obvious cut.
Those songs up there are just a few possibilities, but there are so many others out there to work with. Be creative, you'll find something good!

One of the forgotten baseball classics is "Talkin' Baseball". Just go to Itunes and give a listen. You'll love it, and most likely remember it.
Be sure to get the original...
Also, the theme song from "This Week in Baseball" always fired me up as a kid.

Look for the CDs "Baseball's Greatest Hits Volume 1" and "...Volume 2." They have a bunch of songs you might be able to use, plus some speaking parts that you could use excerpts of if they fit. Things like "Who's on First" and "Casey at the Bat." I did a quick Google search and found some for around $7-10 used.
