I think the hostility toward america by the British was born from resentment to being dragged into a war we did not want to fight due to Blair's brown nosing of Hitlers second coming... I mean Bush by the way.

Whenever I see an American saying its cos u are jealous. The word "ARROGANT" pops into my mind.

lol dudes you really need to appreciate english humour a bit better I am not literally saying Bush is Hitler.... lol Just he's pretty right wing..

Also I am just commenting on the contemporary issues. Of course there is a history beween America and Britain.

And I have a flatscreen tv so i needed something else to think about. I noticed undertones of limey/yank hostility so thought i'd open it up as a subject.

Because I dont believe Bush is doing whats best for Mankind i'm afraid I think he is doing what is best for America. Also crusades to change the world dont work history has proved that countless times in the past.

Noble sentiment. Hitler thought he was changing the world for the better too. A necessary evil.

Does my question say it is my personal feeling anyway? Only that I have noticed this trend. You yanks are way to defensive and quick to judge without checking the facts..... Hang on a minute thats it isn't it. Weapons of mass destruction oh there isnt any well we did Iraq a favour anyway lol.

If you check your history Hitler accepted that he could not invade England long before America Joined the war. Whilst we did not have the force to invade Germany alone he could not invade us. Google Battle of Britain and then see how the war was really won and whilst your there you should probably check out Stalins influence. Oh and the aid you sent us, you charged us for it too.

for 60 year the USA have been medeling in countries that they have no right to, they have single handedly put in power most of the evil dictors like Pol Pot, funded various war efforts in the middle east, at one point they were allies with South Africa but they funded the gurella fighters in Angola.

They trained various armys in how to fight, supplied information on how to make bombs and lots of other training which was used to good effect on 9/11.

The world we live in today and the threats we are under are all directly linked to CIA covert operations.

America has no other concern than their own needs, if they kept themselves to their own waters, never interfered in other countries politics and instigated various coup's then this world would have been a better place, that much is clear.

I can't believe Americans still give that tired old line of "you're jealous". Jealous of what exactly? I have no interest in your shallow materialism. And anyone who thinks that the US alone was responsible for the Allies' victory in WWII has no historical knowledge. Do they discount the armies of Russia, England and many other countries around the world who were involved in the war? It wasn't called a world war for nothing you know. Never mind that the Europeans had to pay for the US' help and the US only became involved in the war because Japan attacked them. They probably wouldn't have gone into Europe if Hitler hadn't also declared war on the US 3 days after Pearl Harbour.
As for the British, they elected Blair as much as the US elected Bush, so they should stop with the finger-pointing. Charles de Gaulle said it so nicely, "there are no friends, only interests". And for anyone to think different is just plain ignorant. Bush went into Iraq to SAVE lives? Ignorant. Blair acted alone and noone else in Britain supported him? Ignorant.
Its not US meddling that I dislike as much as them trying to put a good face on it, ie. we are saving people, democratising people, etc. when they are only meddling for their own interests. Just like everyone else really.

Where to start? Firstly, I like your name - did you choose it? Very clever. Secondly, I think you'll find America (or USA if you prefer) is a place - how can you feel resentment towards a place? I presume you mean do we resent Americans? If so, how can you answer - how many do you actually know? I suspect we have a stereotype in mind (loud clothes, loud voice, bad attitude) just as they have of us ( bad teeth, eat squirrels, snobbish). No doubt some of both sides fit the profile, but I suspect the majority are ordinary people leading ordinary lives, so why the need for hostility.
(PS I made up the bit about eating squirrels. Thought I'd better mention this cos people in the US seem to take everything literally).

when Bush said he was Born For This,
then we all started worrying.
he sees himself as some sort of avenging christian leader.
when all we see is a delusional MADMAN.
taking us to hell in a hand cart.
the Iraq war was & still is ILLEGAL.
it never got international backing,
let alone sanctioned by the UN.

B'Liar can say it was a just war all he likes, it doesn't make it so.
bush's nowt but a war-mongering fool & B'lair was too weak to say no.
i don't dislike all americans
just the ones blinded by bushes war-machine lies, who think stealing Oil & profiting from the rebuilding of a country that they bombed the hell of in the first place, is OK!

The American way of life is filled with ignorance and entitlement, foolish and unbridled greed. What is most disturbing about the USA is that where ever it goes, death and destruction are sure to follow. Not hostility but sadness at the missed chances America has squandered. If elected, they are so depraved and reprobate, I would refuse to lead them.

The answer you are looking for can be found in the number of people longing to get to the USA ; in the numbers who die on rafts trying to flee Cuba ; and the millions who sneak over the border . I notice more hate lined hostility in the question , than anything else . Anyone who really knew what Hitler was about and what he did , could not confuse it with the "Hitler's second coming comment".

Resentment? What resentment? Just because the US held us to ransom in 1940 while we were fighting the Nazis. A debt that was only finished paying THIS year. Things Can Only Get Better. I fought in the war you know.

Maybe that's the WRONG question here... -Maybe the CORRECT question is- "How much has the Bush Presidency HURT our standing in the World's Opinion?." -And I think we all pretty much know the answer to THAT one... When it comes to World Opinion proper; what they DON'T understand about us- is, What were we THINKING- when we voted for Bush in the 1st place- & didn't have the SENSE to get RID of him in the Next Election??? Our "Intellegence" as a "people"-has taken a pretty nasty "hit" over the past 7 years. :(

Well I am American so I cannot be objective about being hostile towards myself. However, I am aware that the majority of the world dislikes us, until they need us, then they are more than happy to ask for our support. We are not evil people and Bush is not Hitler - he is just a powerful world leader looking out for his country's best interest (securing more oil). Then again, so are the Brits but no one is bashing them. Oh well : )
