What is it about fights that make people go crazy?

Whenever theres a fight at my school everyone gathers and watches. Why can't anyone turn away?

Fighting is all hormonal, especially amongst males at schools. It's stupid and illegal. Observing it stimulates a hormone response in some people, but eventually most people grow up.

I hear ya. Rather than turn away, I'd like to see people whipping out their cells and calling for help! People see violence all the time on TV and video games so a fight outside the school is just ... real time entertainment. Just as thrilling.

But if you want to think like an intelligent adult would, an adult would NOT break up the fight themselves (because that could get them killed), but they would call the principal or 911, (whichever is less horrible) and get the fight stopped.

A fight broke out last week at a school in my city between people arguing over some stupid fireworks and when the one kid walked away and went back into the school, the dudes he was fighting with walked into his school and shot him dead with a hand gun. You can't let punks like that just get away with it!

IT'S COOL TO SAY, "I'M GONNA DO SOMETHING ABOUT THIS NOW, BEFORE SOMEBODY DIES!" It's stupid, unmanly and dangerous to risk the chance the other guy doesn't have a knife or handgun. That takes fighting to a whole other level. You can't trust that the guys who are fighting hand to hand won't cheat and pull out a weapon.

You wonder why they watch? Ask yourself how often you have downloaded a video or pictures from the internet of situations where you could help if you were there (e.g. "funny" accidents).
You think they should turn and walk away and not try to stop the fight or help otherwise? Can't you imagine yourself getting beat up?
You cannot label fighting with one word. There are many different reasons for fighting and just as many pros and cons for each one of them.

People like to be entertained. Entertainment is anything that is not supposed to be happening, like fights when it is supposed to be calm at school.

Fighting is inappropriate in a school setting. That is not manly at all. Anyone who provokes to a fight, and even anyone who give in and provide the fight, is out of control and creating a distraction instead of doing what they came there to do.

If anyone wants to start a fight, just accuse them of needing attention and touching, and you won't be far from the truth.

Fighting in schools normally is for nothing, but it is just entertaining if the people fighting know what theyre doing...which most dont...
