Definitely over-rated. There were a lot more important bands that had a greater impact on music. Even if they were the greatest band ever on the face of the earth they still wouldn't be able to live up to the hype.
Bring on the thumbs down.

To be overrated they need to be not as good as everyone says they are. Which if ANYONE listened to more than Stairway to Heaven and Kashmir, they would realize that they are, without a doubt, the most talented band to this date. Almost all their songs are grade A, and are worthy of listening to every day.
So no, they are not overrated.. they're just overliked. People just like them to be cool.. for example, those kids at school who wear Led Zeppelin t-shirts and can only name one song. (This is completely different than being overrated).
Something overrated would be a game like Halo. Everyone says that it's the best game ever, but it's not.

l saw Led Zeppelin 3 times in concert when I was younger and they were the greatest band in the world to see ! Robert Plant had great stage presents!! You could rock out to every song!! If they would have stayed together they would have been greater by far than the Stones!! They are not over rated ! Their under rated!!!!!!!!!!!

Overrated and Zep should never be used in the same sentence. They are ALWAYS cited, along with Black Sabbath and The Beatles, as an influence for most of today's artists. Take any out of the picture and you have a musical wasteland.

Not a chance in hell. They are one of the founding fathers of hard rock. They have a million hit songs, and even the deep cuts nobody listens to are good...if you give them a listen.
Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath brought hard rock from the sixties to the seventies, AC/DC brought it from the 70' to the 80's, and glam brought it from the 80's to the 90's.
Everything after that stinks, as it's too depressing.

LED ZEPPELIN OPENED THE DOORS FOR METAL.
they weren't metal.
METAL SAVED ROCK.
from hair bands, the grunge take-over
AND ARE STILL SAVING ROCK FROM POP PUNK.
eat that ****.
Led Zeppelin means so much to so many people, it's ridiculous to say they're over rated.
