What happened to real rock n roll?! All the old stuff is great! But new "rock n roll" sucks, plus everyone categorizes themselves and music way to much!! oh, im emo, im hip-hop, people get offended, cuz you say, are you emo, and they say no, im scene, **** emos.....What the hell is the difference? Scene kids where vans instead of converse.....I hate all of the categorization!! Does anyone agree with me?

I think people who adhere to music labels need to get their own personality.

Besides, most modern music is horrible in terms of lyrics, and the opinion of what makes a good vocal and a rythm degrades by the day. Rap idolizes a life of crime and extraneous sex....punk rock turns trivial matters into "omg I want to kill myself"....it goes on and on.

I only like a few modern bands.
I prefer some Stones, Zeppelin, CCR, and BOC. Oh, and some Hendrix.

no one should be categorized but i also feel that some people try to express themselves through music maybe a little too much but it shows that they have a love for music. i love the rock today but the old stuff is pretty good too. some people feel the same as you do and there are a lot of radio stations that havent gave in to the new stuff.

It started outliving it's usefullness 30 years ago. It's the recording industry's dream come true that the youth are willing to regurgitate their parents and grandparents music rather than using their imagination and coming up with something new. Shaking the status quo scares the people in charge.

tell me about it! I have been wondering the same thing! just like hip hop, it's getting too watered down. I miss the days of the heavy metal, bands like black sabbath, Hendrix, queen, Nine inch nails, Nirvana, those bands rocked! Just like the days of Grandmaster flash, public enemy.
Rock and rap need to get back to their roots, making quality music.

Rock died when corporations took over the music business. Now it is all about the bottom line.
