I had 2 regular 28 cent goldfish.
In 3 years, one of them grew to 6 inches
In 5 years the other one grew to 1 foot, it lived with two Oscars for about 6 months.
With good care regular goldfish can grow to a very large size.
Good Luck

As everyone stated they will grow to around 12", and if you do water changes they will grow to large for a small tank, fish secrete a vitamin into the water, in normal circumstances this is then measured by the fish, if the concentration has increased then the glands sets off a signal to stop the fish growing and it becomes stunted. However because your doing regular water changes this vitamin is going to be low and the fish will not stop growing.
Obviously this doesn't work for all fish because its a pointless exercise releasing this vitamin in a river so the function has become redundant in fish that have evolved in rivers.

They can grow a whopping 14 inches. Get a good sized tank. Most don't get that big in a home aquarium, usually 9 to 10 inches is max. They can't live long in a bowl or small aquarium. 20 gallons don't cost all that much. You will also need a filter, airstone and airator suited to tank size. Goldfish make awesome pets.

depends on the size of the tank. the bigger the tank, the bigger the fish. remember that gold fish are in the carp family, they can get quite large.
