I agree because after 3 days of rainbow gymnastics camp I know! I am a flyer and I've fell from a build, and anything possible! Also like falling on my face from forgetting to block on my back handspring. I mean think about it,all football is running into each other trying to get the ball to the line and they actually have pads, gear, and protection! All we have is people to trust to catch us and not step on you and not kick you and if they do u gotta take it, cause you have to be tough. In the end it's all worth the 7/12-81/2 hour workout 3 days in a row, because at the end we hit our routine and I got my back handspring. What do you think?

Also you have to pretend your happy, smile, and make happy/goofy facial expressions all through it! If you dont you'll get yelled at right in the face, or they'll put you on the spot.

I think cheerleading is much harder than football is a way. My twin brother plays football. I cheer. So, I know both expeiences technically. Okay, so yes football you have tons of practices and you get hit, spit on, and you run a lot. Oh waaaaa. You at least have pads on and are in control of your life. I also am a flyer. And, it's hard having your life in someone elses hands. I have been dropped many times. And, not alwasy on a mat either. I went through a week of hard-core cheer camp, and I bet it was harder than any football camp!!! And, we don't have anything to help us when we fall, we can only hope that next time the bases catch us. So, honestly, cheerleading is harder than football. Hands down. My brother comes in sore and dirty, but sometimes I come home with a sprained wrist or ankle. And in games, all you do is throw a football.
There has been more cheerleading deaths/injures than in footbll. I haven't heard of one football player dying in football, but I have heard of a cheerleader being dropping. . .and it didn't turn out well.
Cheerleading is definitely harder than football!!!!!!!

Wow, hate to counter your 3 days of extensive gymnastics experience with my measly 8 years of football experience but did your coach give you any drugs? Yes cheerleading can be complicated in that there are detailed and sometimes very elaborate routines that must be executed perfectly. Football consists of a series of complicated routines (plays) which must be executed perfectly while 11 other guys are actively interrupting said routine. When you get tossed in the air during a routine does an opposing group of cheerleaders try to tackle your spotters? I didn’t think so. You also state that it’s hard having a coach yell at you and call you out if you screw up. Watch a football practice or attend a game and see what happens if somebody blocks the wrong man, runs the wrong route, or fumbles a snap. What, do you think the coach will try and spare the player’s feelings? Hell no! And yes we wear pads. I’ve worn those pads through two-a-day and three-a-day sessions in 110 degree heat, do cheerleaders do that?
I’m not saying that cheerleading isn’t difficult. I can’t do half the crap those girls do and I respect them for that. I would also assume that most cheerleaders couldn’t get off the line and drive a 320lb man back 70 times per game. Each sport, yeah against my better judgment I’m calling cheerleading a sport here, has its challenges and these challenges are very different. Please just get a clue before you make another comment like that in the future.

I was a flyer in high school...it IS hard and I had many arguments with people as to whether cheerleading is a sport or not, and it most definitely is...but you're kind of bold to say it's harder than football. My boyfriend is a football player and I would never wanna go through what he does...I mean, at least we get an off-season. They train year-round and have a greater frequency of injury. Go pad up and get on the field, then re-evaluate.

HA!!!! That's hilarious!
Seriously, after three days of cheerleading camp you know? Have you ever played football? Strenght training or conditioning? Give me a break. What's more, when you fall, it's not some three hundred pound guy trying to break you in half. Last time I checked, football injuries are a lot more common that cheerleading injuries. After all, it's not the oposing teams job to knock you senseless in cheerleading. Man, you're funny.
Cheerleading harder than football...hilarious!
* Okay, that seals it. If your biggest concern is that you'll "get yelled at right in the face," you obviously have no idea what the heck you're talking about. If you screw up in football, not only do you get "yelled at right in the face" by the coach, you have to run. A lot. And then he makes everyone else run, and everyone else will yell at you "right in the face." Give me a break. And some people wonder why cheerleaders have a reputation as know nothing ditzes. Way to further the cause!

No, I believe football is harder. They don't just practice three days a week, in most cases they practice every day. They also have numerous plays to memorize and just because they have padding doesn't mean it hurts less. Also, they generally practice from spring until football season is over. Also, there is more to getting the ball to that line and running into each other. It is a complicated sport.
Cheerleading is difficult, but football is definitely harder.

I don't doubt that Cheerleading is a sport, and sometimes I'll stand on an island and defend it, but please help my cause, pick a different sport in the world, ANYTHING BUT FOOTBALL!!! You will always loose, if you don't believe me just check the site below and tell me how many cheerleaders have had injuries that result in this!
Also lets do some math, 8.5H x 3D = 25.5 hrs a week, vs 2H x 2Times a day x 5D = 20, yep your right you win, oops I forgot, our 'intesive' time isn't 2 a day's it's 3 a day's, 2H x 3H x 5D = 30 hrs per week.
Not to mention when we aren't on the field we're in the class learning plays, systems and audibles the rest of the day.

Absolutely not. Not saying that COMPETITION cheerleading isn't somewhat difficult, but just doing flips in the gym doesn't make it harder than football. What you see on the TV is not football. On the bottom of every pile, somebody is getting stepped on, spit on, and poked. Cheerleading is nowhere near the difficulty of football.

you are joking. Getting physically hit is part of the game, when you fall its a mistake.
football is more physical and significantly tougher than "cheerleading". You are minimizing what is happening on a football field and in practice since you obviously have never played. You are maximizing what happens in cheerleading because you have been involved with it.
football practices in most schools are two a days of intense running, hitting, and conditioning. check your facts before posting a ridiculous question like this.
In fact, there are schools who don't even consider cheerleading a sport..its an activity or a club.

well, if someone chooses to be a cheerleader then they should expect something like that to happen.
i was on the drill team in high school and that wasn't a walk in the park either.
