Music is art. Each artist has his or her way of expressing their work. Just like any other art form you will find some artists you like or understand and some you just don't get. Hendrix and Zeppelin made an impact on music and live on in history.

I've been a big music fan since the 70s and I've always wondered the exact same thing. I don't hate them either but always thought they were overrated. However, now that I'm older, whenever I listen to either of the two I can see how far their 'influence' has reached other artists. So many singer/songwriter/bands just would not have existed without their influence of Led Zepplin or Hendrix. Or even the Beatles for that matter. Parts of famous songs that I thought were original, turned out to be direct influences of these 2 performing entities. To this day, I can not 'get into' Zepplin or Hendrix but LOVE the ones they've influenced... go figure :-)
Same with the Beatles. I NEVER liked the Beatles, even though I know music today would not be as it is had it not been for them. Ironically, my favorite band of all time and while growing up was ELO (The Electric Light Orchestra), Jeff Lynne's band. ELO was basically what the Beatles would have sounded like had they not broke up, according to John Lennon. I hear the Beatles immensly in ELO tunes and love ELO but am still not a Beatle fan... Weird huh???

Music is a very personal experience, that's why there are so many genre. I consider Hendrix a musical genius along with Mozart,Michael Jackson, and a lot of other people. By genius I mean people that have not learned, but by an accident of nature were given a gift of musical ability that they chose to share with others. I like Led Zeppelin because I like the lyrics, the hard beats, the guitar riffs. There's no explanation for personal taste. Go with what you enjoy and make no apologies.

i love both the artists you just mentioned. i dont feel offended at all. its all about your taste. some groups just dont work for some people.
heres a list of some songs that got me into them
led zeppelin - over the hills and far away (it picks up about a minute and a half into the song)
led zeppelin - immigrant song
led zeppelin - dancing days
led zeppelin - kasmir
jimi hendrix - american woman
jimi hendrix - foxy lady
jimi hendrix - the wind cries mary
jimi hendrix - hey joe
try those songs out if you wanna get an idea of how good they really are! if not its no problem theyre just not for you then. most people rave about artists like the who but i could never get into it. it happens
hope this helped a little

Hendrix must be listened to live. His best work is in the concert recordings.
Zep may be more of an acquired taste. You might want to start with Physical Graffiti and Led Zep IV. Maybe Led Zep III.

I'm a Country fan... but I also grew up in the 60s... so I say this.... Hendrix was the most innovative artist of his time. The psychedelic craze allowed him to open up and show his dexterity and amazing clarity of ability.
Remember, NO ONE at the time played as he did... and almost every player since then has copied some of his technique, whether they know it or not.

Jimi Hendrix is the greatest guitarist EVER! That's what so good about him. Led Zeppelin, well, they put the "classic" in "classic rock". I can see you questioning the Zep...but NEVER ever question Jimi!!!

if you got it you got it and if you dont you dont . the artists , if they are true , dont mind if you cant see what they are saying as most artists dont understand themselves they just think its cool that they can perform in such a world as ours .
