Am I too old to go to some tryouts? I am almost 30 y/o. I pitched while I was in high school and at that time I was registering 85 to 87 mph on my fastball. I had a good curve and breaking ball. I wasn't able to go to college on a baseball scholarship, so instead I joined the marine corps and played baseball and softball while I was in the marines. I haven't clocked myself in quite some time, but the last time I was clocked I hadn't lost anything on my fastball and my other pitches were still there. Also are there open tryouts for people who haven't went to college and played or who haven't been drafted or played in any of the independent leagues?

i believe there are tryouts with local teams such as A,AA, or independent league ball. you would have to find one such local team near you and ask though...

i know that you can't just walk on straight to an mlb team though - you have to start at the bottom

I remember when I was a kid the Cincinnati Reds did quite often. They were tryouts for high school and American Legion players. I am not sure that they have specific tryouts for the "common guy with a dream" as they want people that are currently playing. I guess you just watch the local newspaper for a notification of tryouts.

Haven't you ever seen the Rookie with Dennis Quaid? haha, that movie proved to me that the Devil Rays will take ANYBODY. So, try out for the Devil Rays.
