depends...mine don't normally, but my mom's do on occasion if she wears one of her Natori Sports bras the wire is pretty thick on it and if the sensors are set to rather sensitive setting the bra sets it off.

I have never had an underwire bra trigger the metal detector. You should be fine.

I have had it happen. It doesn't seem to happen everytime. When it does, they feel each side to make sure nothing is hidden there.
