I have a 2003 Dodge Durango. Recently the brakes started making a high pitched chirping/squealing noise. I took it to a shop and they replaced the rear rotors and brake pads. It was silent after gettign it back then a couple of days later the same thing started happening. Took it back again and they replaced the front brake pads this time. Took it home and it was fine for a day or two - then the same noise again. Took it back a 3rd time because it was driving me insane. They filed down the pads this time. Same thing again! Silent for a day or two and then it's back. Is there anything I can do about this?

they must be hard pads, or brake dust.

The brake pads have a metallic tab on them that, whilst the brake pads positioned on down, rubs on the rotor floor. it is what's generating the squeal. it rather is there to provide you with a warning to the brake pads being very almost wiped out. The longer you nevertheless force the vehicle, the extra serious the noise gets. force it too lots longer and the brake pad fabric would be lengthy gone and the backing plate will consume into the rotor each and each time you word the brakes. In extra convenient words .... that noise is telling you to replace the pads now!

Check to see if the backing plates of the brake rotor area are not touching....check very carefully...when in doubt gently bend the backing plates away from the rotors..

The calipers aren't sticking are they? Take it back again. They have gotten about all the money they can out of you, now it's time for them to fix the squeak. good luck.
