Yes, my pinky goes up when I drink, but I am not doing it for any reason....lol!

Tea and a woefull Pinky Crisis: This is what I found. Still no answer to your question, but a funny situation.

I found another:
Dear Millie,

When you are taking tea are you suppose to hold your pinky finger up?

Dear Reader,

Raising your pinky (little) finger while drinking a beverage dates from the
11th century, before the widespread use of eating utensils. People ate with their hands; the cultured class with three fingers, commoners used five fingers.

Today, however, we don't eat with our hands, so neither should we raise our
pinky finger while drinking a beverage or in eating. To do so would earn a place in the Tea Drinkers Hall of Shame!

Thank You! I have enjoyed your question. I hope some of it helps.

Mine never goes up when I drink; unless I feel silly and start talking like a sophisticated, 12th century Englishwoman (which has happened). Interesting to read the origins of the pinky raising from Kay's answer though.
