I'm a 113lb girl who just bought an 05 GSXR 600 which was already pre-owned by a woman so it has mods done and is suited for a woman.....
All my guy friends keep saying I'm going to kill myself....... but I've wanted a bike forever, I've been on them with friends, and I'm going to take the class..... I love everything that has an engine pretty much and I'm a big tomboy :P

Screw your guy friends. Some guys can't stand to see a female on a bike.
Don't let anyone tell you whether you should ride or not, what to ride or where to ride.
Take that class then go have a blast.
Get those knees in the wind and keep the rubber side down!
And NO, that bike is not too big for someone your size.

idiot? No not at all! A 600 is good just be careful cause they are torque little suckers take your time for the first year or two. never ride more than you comfort levels allow. yes take the class if you have no or minimal experience. and I know this next part may seem crazy to most, but sign up for a track day at you nearest professional race track (once you've got the basics down). This is what I think all new riders should do because you truly learn your bike on a track! road ridding will never be the same (in a good way) Your skills are gonna double in a day! and your comfort levels are going to be high, in any situation!
good luck and be safe!

First of all. If you look anything like your avatar, you're not in tomboy territory. Having said that, your bike should be fine if you learn how to ride it properly. I'm about to take a motorcycle class too but I won't be riding a sport bike. I want a 1500cc cruiser. Something like a Yamaha Warrior. I'm 6'4" and 215lb though.

I'm guessing this is your first bike then.....
A 600cc engine is pretty big for a beginner. You weigh almost nothing (No offence) and the only weight is going to be the bike itself, so it's really going to shift! (Go fast)
All that speed for a beginner and you might/probably will (not) (Choose on words) kill yourself from all the power ad no experience
Although I'm a young car driver and I haven't crashed my car yet so I guess if you're lucky you'll be fine.
BTW Girls driving bikes is hot !!!

You're not an idiot as long as you ride safe. Take the class and have fun. If you love it, then do it. Congratulations on buying a bike! I'll see you on the road.

take your time and learn to ride properly, take one of the classes... I would also recommend you trying dirt biking to really learn how to ride without putting yourself in harms way of all the other possibilities, like cars...
I think it's great you are getting out and enjoying something ... just be safe until you do get comfortable with the bike and always pay attention to your surroundings.

So your question is? Take the course and don`t try and do something you are not sure of. The bike is quick so just learn to control it. I would recommend a smaller bike but my g/f rides a dresser and she is only 5'5", and she manages. Good luck and be carefull

Yes, you are. Going to kill yourself, that is. Yippee, so you;re going to take an MSF class AFTER the fact, but that still won't give you the years of reflexive experience required to ride that bike properly.
You should have started with a GS500 and learned to ride first.

No, you are not an idiot... but you do need to be careful if this is your first bike! Biggest thing, ride with conservative friends and don't worry about keeping up with experienced riders, or you WILL end up in the guardrail, or worse!
