... a pair of slip on Dr Marten sandals are really rather.......... err......... well smelly!!!! They have gone everywhere from festivals to walking holidays. They are the most comfortable shoe I own, but as they are open shoes, the smell isn't too personal anymore, its getting rather public. I cant buy another pair as they no longer stock the range, and I have broken them in very well.
The inner of the sandals are fabric, so much sweat and grime has ingrained itself and thats causing them to kick-up somewhat!!! Please help!!! (no abuse about being a dirty rotter please my feet are clean, except when they leave the shoes!!)

1] spray them with unscented Oust, and put out side to dry overnight
2] spray again the next day, and put outside
3] if still stinky, stuff with newspaper, and put in old. tight shoebox for a few days

I know, Docs are great. Although I have never had Dr. Martin sandals, I'm sure that they last forever, like the boots. Have you tried getting them relined, and maybe resoled? It probably wouldn't cost more than getting a new pair of similar quality sandals, maybe less. And you'd still have your favorite shoes (while retaining some social acceptability!). Just make sure that the shop you take them to has a good reputation, you don't want to have a dispute, as in they ruined them and still expect you to pay.

Or did you want a recommendation for a new pair?

Either way, try getting them fixed up, they sound wonderful.

to get rid of the stench, try putting a bit of baking soda on them, or near them. As for the fact that the inner sandal is broken in, you should probably take the sandals to a professional shoe fixer upper, because there's not much you can do yourself. the shoe person would be able to replace the inners of the shoe, and probably even the bottoms.

As a member of the school track and cross country running team my sneakers get pretty smelly as well. what I do is put baby powder in them and leave them overnight. the powder soaks up the smell. you can do it every time you take off your shoes. try it and see how it works.
