hi , i connected a monitor to my laptop and now what showed on the laptop screen is showed on the monitor but i want to make them symmetrical or in other words i want to show a half on the laptop screen and the other half on the monitor ,, how can i do that ?

This is not possible on all notebook computers. The older ones do not have this feature.

The ones that do, you can right click on the desktop and going to Properties - Display - and then click on extend desktop. You should be able to go from there.

Some other notebooks (Toshiba for instance) has a program that will also let you do this. You can do this with a right click and find the appropriate field (can't remember off the top of my head) or there is a program you can launch from the Start menu.

I am not sure what you mean by 'symmetrical'.

If you want to extend your desktop across both screens:

System Properties> Settings tab.

You should have a box showing monitor 1 and 2. 1 is the laptop. Click on 2, and then click the tick box "Extend my Windows desktop . . ." Click Apply.

If the monitor 2 is on the wrong side, drag it around in the window until it is in the right place. Make sure the resolution is right and click O.K.
