Johnny Koi-- if we are to get along, we should be able to sit in the same classroom together.

I agree with this ruling. It's time for EQUALITY not special treatment based on the color of your skin.

Forcing students to attend a certain school based on their race is racism.

I agree with the ruling- that is absurd to base any decisions solely on race.
In some districts( like in my area in the mtns of TN)-diversity would never be achieved without exceptionally long bus rides for children who would be bussed from outside of the city limits into the county.
I am not sure that people that pay city taxes are going to be so keen on their children being forced into county schools just to satisfy some political agenda.

It has been proven that black stundents, when attending neighborhood schools, achieve higher tests scores.

Some theorize the reason theses students out perform their bussed counter-parts is because of smaller class sizes and the ability to attened school with the kids they grow up with.

Nieghborhood schools, whether in a black or white neighborhood, create greater parent involvement in community school activities.

Good. Diversity is a good thing kids at a young age need to interact with each other, learn each others cultures, bring down the walls that some times separation can build.
I did read the article.

The Aristotelean philosophy of education is based on "the cream rises to the top". How can it with "no child will excel"?
You got to ask yourself would we as a country be better off educationally if we had let the gifted be gifted?

So yeah I agree.

Of course. The kids should go to the school in their neighborhood. It's wrong in every way to be singled out because of the color of your skin.

School systems shouldn't have the authority to place students in certain schools regardless of the criterion. That's the realm of the parent, not the government.

I'm not sure. In principle I agree wholeheartedly. In practice, it is desireable to have a nice racial mix in one's environment. We put our kids in the 60% caucasian school rather than the 95% caucasian school so as to bring a sense of balance and racial harmony to their lives. My son's friends are of many racial backgrounds. We think it's great.
