It's better to be safe than sorry. If it turns out that some guy managed to somehow set it up to make it look like a murder-suicide, then WWE will probably re-honor Benoit. However, with everything that's gone on, to even seem like they're honoring Benoit would be a PR nightmare - hell, they're getting flack for the tribute show, even though it was the right thing to do at the time. They've even taken him off the DVD releases on Shopzone to make sure it doesn't seem like they're profiting off his name. The only thing that is probably still intact is the match results and title history, and they can't change that.

It's unfortunate, but they have to distance themselves from this, as the media is absolutely slaughtering them for this whole incident.

They ran a 3 hour tribute for the guy, on the assumption the family suffered tragic deaths. That was the good and proper thing to do based on what they thought may have happened. What more do you want? When the announcement was made that he murdered his wife and child, then killed himself, they did the right thing by distancing themselves. You don't go about saying publicly that a child murderer is missed by your company, and a child murderer is honoured and revered.

WWE's very upset they paid a 3-hour tribute to somebody who killed himself, and his wife and kid. So upset, in fact, that they've seen to it that all information relating to, or that could possibly relate to Benoit, is wiped clean. WWE wants itself, and the fans, to move on from this incident very quickly. Now, when Eddie died on 11/13/2005, in weeks preceeding, WWE did nothing relating to comedy skits, like they've already done on ECW, because Eddie's death was truly a very sad time. WWE wants nothing to do with Benoit anymore, and however sad that may be, they just want to move on and forget it happened. I wouldn't say it's rude at all.

and the other day they had a show that was a tribute to Chris Benoit and then as soon as they hear what happened they do that. I bet he was really messed up from being dropped on his head and hit with chairs and all the pain medication he took which came with along with his career in the WWE.

Benoit is a murderer and a nut. He had all of his friends and fans fooled. WWE is right to try to distance themselves from him.

Most of what they are doing is b/c of company policy - and they dont want to offend anyone and dont want to promote and stand behind a murder. They dont want that type of stuff on their company name. Lastly I dont know what to think about this chris thing either just like the few who arent passing judgment yet. However understand wwe isnt tryin to be rude but follow company policy.

weeeeeelllllllllllllll, you can't really rank a dead man as a serious threat to anybodys wrestling title, so that may one reason for the removal. now if they keep number 7 open for about a month that would be a sign of respect.

What's there to have mixed feelings about? For whatever reason, he murdered his wife and son. It's such a horrible act, that I really don't think much else about his life matters at this point.

They want nothing to do with him because he murdered 2 people! One was a child!

Why would they want to put him on their site? He's a murderer, for the love of God. He killed his wife and if that weren't bad enough, he killed his little boy! Then, on top of that, he took the coward's way out and killed himself! I say kudos to WWE for taking down all his information!
