Plain Jane 12' x 24' with 12' axis attached to house.

Use 2x8 PTDF ledger, attach to house with 2-SDS1/4x3" screws into each stud. If you are attaching at the house rim joist use same screws at 8" o.c. staggered.
2x8 PTDF deck joists @ 16" o.c. using simpson LB28 top flange hangers. provide full depth blocking at mid span (5').
Use 2x8 Redwood fascia board.

4x8 PTDF girder installed at 10' from house (leaving 2' cantilever). Girder needs to be supported 2' from ends and 6'-8" o.c. (total of 5 supports). Use precast pier block and 4x4 post, adjust for height. If post height is > 24" cross bracing is required.

Use 2x6 Redwood decking material (or Trex or similar to suit) fasten with galvanized wood screws, two per joist 3" minimum length fasteners.

Guard rail required if finish deck is 24" above finish grade. Use 4x4 post @ ~6' o.c., bolted to the fascia board using 2-1/2" diameter galvanized bolts with washers. Bottom rail of guardrail = 2x4, top rail 2x4, handrail 2x6, install 2x2 pickets with 4" max. clearance between.

Provide additional information if you wish for additional specifics.
