It takes 2 techs. 1.5 hours to do the job and they have done it before. If noise is the isue, it needs a basket as well. Do not! attempt this yourself. Price will prevent you from having it done. The basket is probably under warrenty but rear shell and labor is not. Plan on $450.00

It requires complete disassembly of the machine. I would not advise that you attempt it. You have to buy the rear tub half/bearing together. Cost from Sears is $155.90

Like anything else it is easy or hard depending upon how you wish to look at it and how adventuresome you are.
Give yourself enough time and room to get into it. Get a manual if you can because it will tell you the fine details.
