like to purchase a boat, about 21 feet longer, with 6 seat, for fishing and short distance surfing, will like to know how much it may cost to maintain it annually. I am living on Long Islang.
Thanks.

Depends if it an Outboard or Inboard. Really, boats are not a lot different than a car. Tune Ups and Oil Changes. When taken care of it not a big deal. Now, if you want a Boat Slip, that can be an added monthly expense. If, it not in a garage get a simple cover. May need to make some supports from PVC Pipe to allow it to shed rain and leaf stuff and not hold it. Also, with a cover make pads to protect from windshields and stuff poking holes in it. I spray seats, steering rod and rubber with a spray Silicon and it helps. Inboards need winterized, I just remove the drain plugs on the engine block and disconnect the battery and charge it one 24 hours a month. Outboard just have the engine down and water drain. Lower Unit is what I say, it need down as it may hold water behind the prop freeze and crack something. Most is cost free, just time to do those little things.
But, Fuel can get expensive depends on how much you go. I had a boat and Slip and we where going most everyday. Probably burned 10-15 gallons when no one Tube or Ski. That just easy fishing and riding. On a weekend having fun all day, it easy to burn 20-30 gallons a day. Insurance we had on the car stuff and it was cheap, like $50/60 a year.
