Hah! Fifty answers already, and no-one has mentioned the greatest (anti) war film ever made.
It's called Come And See, and is a totally horrifying account of the Russian Front during WW II, told through the eyes of a young Russian peasant boy. It does for war what Irreversible did for rape, ie it removes the objectivity from the viewer and dumps you in the midst of the horror of combat. I cannot recommend this film highly enough.
It's in Russian, by the way; maybe that's why nobody else has seen it?
