Urine is used to carry out dissolved waste substances from your body. This can range from excess calcium, water, to ammonia (which is harmful to the body in certain quantities) and urea (a metabolic byproduct).

Urine is considered fairly sterile. However, the minute it passes out of your body, it gets contaminated with bacteria from the surrounding skin.

Your question is very subjective. If you mean how clean is human urine to ingest again, I would tell you not at all. It is also not advisable to use it to clean wounds (since there is usually urea in urine).

However, certain tribes are known to wash their hair with urine, and it has been shown that urine can give your hair more bounce, although I have never personally tried it, and will never dare to!

Is Urine Clean

There is no arguing it is sterile. That's a fact.

Currently I am attending an all natural school. One of the things they teach is urine therapy. It is supposed to help you heal very fast if you use it in different ways. Like rubbing a little on a pimple or a cut. It has been known to clear up eye infections. If you are sick you can drink it. The whole idea is it's a natural antibiotic your body is producing the help itself heal. So don't drink your friends pee - just your own.

Personally it will take a lot of proof for me to do any of that, but it is an accepted practice by a large portion of naturalists in society.

urine contains your bodies metabolic wastes, and destroyed bacteria which your kidneys have cleaned from your bloodstream. if you were to drink it it would be safe because your body has already killed any harmful bacteria which was in it, and your stomach will not reabsorb the waste chemicals back into your blood, they will simply pass through your bowels. the water will be reabsorbed and flushed out as new urine. if you drink too much water your body moves the water out faster than you produce metabolic wastes so the color will shift towards clear. if you don't drink enough water, the need to clean wastes supersedes the need to retain water and urine becomes darker.

Urine is sterile (until it touches your skin), but it is not clean. The two things are not the same. Sterile means it has no living micro-organisms. Clean means it has no chemical or physical impurities ("dirt") in/on it. The waste products from your body are NOT clean, even though they are organism-free (sterile) until they leave your body. You can make anything sterile (vomit, for example) with heat or bleach or something like that, but that doesn't make it clean.
