Don't strap your arms. Instead try this:

Lie down on the floor, hands overhead, get a friend or your spotter to get some tape and make a line under your feet and at your hands. Where your belly button is make a box the size of your hand plant. Then stand on the first tape to do your bhs, and make sure your hands fit inside that box. Your feet will land on the other piece of tape. Using the box should help remind you not to spread your arms. (And keep them pinched up against your ears. If you can't feel your ears they are too far from your head.)

For tucks try these:

FIRST... Don't put a band around your arms, you will need them incase you mess up, and you can't correct or save yourself if your arms are strapped together.

If your tucks and backhand springs are slow then you may want to build up your stomach muscles some with crunches.

When doing a tuck you want to jump as high as you can and at the top snap your knees to your chest, That snap will get you over faster and help you to complete your rotation in the air.

When doing a back handspring you need to conciously think about keeping your arms straight. Straight arms will make your handspring more powerful.

Practice your back handspring on a trampoline. You will get the spring you need and then you will build confidence to keep you arms straight. Lots and lots of concentration and determination too. If you WANT it by August, then you will definitely get there as long as you are not self-defeating and talk yourself into failure. Be tough and work hard.
