I would say politically his biggest mistake has been not having either the will or the natural talent to communicate his ideas and explain the reasons why he does things in a certain way. It always falls to the conservative media to put it in a meaning that you can understand but if he relies on them then the message will not get out to half the population. Ronald Reagen did a lot of things that were controversial when he was in office but he made sure that he got his messages and reasonings out to everybody in a way that was understood by most... Bush just has that smirk on his face and usually some corny comment about freedom or some other over used words... that is why Reagan was known as the great communicator and a well thought of President , at least in his first term. Bush just does not possess this skill . Bush has had more things dropped in his lap then Clinton or Reagan ever did ... and even though I think he is very sincere in what he does, he just cannot manage to convey his meanings in a way that the general population can embrace.

That is tough. There are so many things! An easier question to answer is "What has Bush done right?"

1. He did set aside some land in Hawaii as a national park.

2. He did promote sending aid to Africa for AIDS prevention.

3. He choked on a pretzel.

That is about it. Think of everything else he has done. Those are his mistakes. Can they be fixed by the next President? Some of them can be, but when it comes to the war and deficit, I really feel sorry for the next President. It will take a lot to correct those horrific gaffes.

Put the country as a whole further into debt over a bogus war that us tax payers will be left paying for years to come. Destroyed the lives of millions in Iraq. Over 500,000 people have been killed and millions are now refugees ever since we so-called "Liberated" them. I agree that Saddam was a threat but if so why didn't we go after Iran and North Korea or go in there with somewhat of an exit strategy? The whole world views us a bully that's getting what it deserves which sucks because whenever there is a major disaster somewhere around the globe the U.S. is usually one of the first to bring aid. Its sad, all the humanitarian work we do now is overshadowed by this administrations blunders.

I don't really think he has made 1 single right decision in his 6 1/2 years. Iraq is a mess, Afghanistan is turning on us quickly, immigration in a mess, no major legislation on social security, crime, or other services, no child left behind has failed, WTO talks have ground to a halt, Katrina, Gas Prices at record highs, Russia has backslid into Authoritarianism. Either he is one of the worst Presidents ever or one of the unluckiest. I go with the former because it seems like a lot of these could have been solved and done so effectively.

I don't know about the next president, but all I know is that I'm not voting Republican next time around. I used to belong to that party, but this President has ruined it for me.

The better question should have been what has Bush done right in the last 7 years. The answer here is NOTHING! He got us in an unplanned war in a country that doesn't want a democracy and doesn't want us there and he demands that we should "stay the course". We have 10 - 15 soldiers killed on average everyday. We don't belong there and we must get out. I don't care about "saving face", I care about each and every soldier over there facing near certain death everyday.

After 9-11, the entire world sympathized with us. Within a few months most of the world hated us even worse than before. Bush's foreign policy has been the worst gaffe in the history of foreign policy.

Lying about the Iraq war. Why we went there, etc. Backing friends that are getting huge kickbacks from the war, Halliburton etc. I believe the next President can take the politics out of war especially the kickbacks and other wrongdoings.

He has breathed, but I wouldn't wish anyone dead, so we can't do anything about that. The biggest mistake isn't Bush himself, it is the 53 million citizens of the USA that elected him and his party in last time around!

Amnesty

That was a mistake

Can the next president "fix" things? Only if he deports the illegals and seals the border
