When I wanted to volunteer at vet hospitals I called each one I found in the phone book. But don't forget other places that employ vets such as zoos, the humane society, or veterinary universities. If you'd rather go out on house calls try calling a large animal vet instead of one that just does companion animals. There are lots of options, just call around.
