I am located in Texas. People always tell me I have a great voice for radio or video games. I am very interested in finding out more about how to be cast to do voice work for radio, anime, cartoons, TV, video games, etc.

What do I need to do to get started? Are there any Texas-based companies that I should check out? Is there an organization, like an actor's guild, that I need to be a part of??

I've been on TV before and I've acted in theatre in high school.

Thanks!

I live near Dallas but I'm from Houston...so info for either of those cities would be helpful.

Most voice actors are also "regular" actors, or at least started out that way.

Study acting.

As you progress, you can begin to specialize, but you'll need the basics first.

Get in touch with a local radio station you like and get an intern position. Tell them that you wan tot be on the air eventually and volunteer to do everything. Once you have done a few things put together a demo tape and send it to agents in LA and new york.

Take a radio class at your local junior collegeif they have a radio station and try to get on the air there as well.

Contact your local radio station(s). Many offer classes/training. Some even have an option for you to get your own slot at the end of the class!

Now to get started, you'd want to have an agent at a good voiceover agency.

One of the best is CED Voices. http://www.cedvoices.com/meouragents.php

It boats clients like Kim Catrall, Billy Ray and Miley Cyrus.

Have a good high quality reel/demo tape to submit.

Also, concerning unions, you'd want to get involved with AFTRA.

Good Luck!

Hon, you can't just say you are from TEXAS, if you want assistance, tell us which city in Texas.
If you don't want help, why post a question?

First you need an agent to evaluate whether you have what it takes to do voiceovers.

Which city in Texas? If you are in Houston, I'll give you the contact info for the agent I had when I lived in Houston.
