My family and I live in SE Oklahoma and, though we do like the people and the scenery, the summertime humidity just sucks!! We live in a heavily wooded area near a lake. It's always moist and the bugs are just awful. I can't go outside in the evening for 5 minutes without getting chewed up. So I'm wondering, is there a place in the U.S. with the following characteristics?

Mild weather - snow in the winter but not too many days of being snowed in, warm summers but not so much humidity

Mountains and hills

Streams, creeks, and lakes all around

Small towns with little to no crime

Small schools with the majority of kids being raised with manners and a little bit of common sense

Small farms and ranches ran by simple, laid back country folk who don't care what kind of car you drive or what the tag on your shirt reads.

I know, I'm dreaming, but I might get lucky.

Many areas are like that in Northern California and the northwest, but employment is sometimes hard to find.

Check out the web sights for the following New England States.
Maine, New Hampshire, Vermont- lakes ,streams, beaches, mountains, farms, true seasons, tons of outdoor activities, great life style, and plenty of small town life. OH, Maine also has the Atlantic Ocean.

washington state. if you like farms and ranches, try the snohomish, skagit or whatcom areas (about an hour or two north of seattle). my husband and i drive by the areas on our way to canada. they're all nice-looking farming communities... but at the same time, it's not too rural coz their town centers look nice and modern.

definitely lots of mountains, hills and lakes. we get snow in the winter but it usually only total to about 2 weeks the entire winter period. it rains, sure but i'll take the rain over snow anytime.

try areas from everett, washington until the canadian border.

If you can live with a little less water and LDS neighbors ,St George Utah comes to mind.
If all that wholesomeness gets to you then you can just take a fast 100 mile drive down I-15 to Las Vegas.

You should try Canada. Firstly Canada is alot better than the US.

Possibly try Vancouver British Columbia, or in Quebec.

The scenery in Canada is beautiful and if you choose to move here you won't regret it!
