A student council advisor in illinois has recently dismissed without explanation. The advisor has been active on local to national levels of student council for the past 17 years and has never had any problems with her record. She is well reputable and admired by all who know her within the organization. I was wondering if this is within laws of Illinois school codes? Or sites I could look at to give me more information on the general subject? and any ideas you may have as to fighting this other than petition?
Please help, justice needs to be served here...
we are pretty sure we know the reason but the accusations of the board are completely untrue...and yes she is a teacher also
Thanks,
Krys

Dismissed with no explanation? Of course they can't. She has a right to know the charges and to face her accusers and defend herself. There is obviously a reason she was dismissed which you've not stated. You are not giving the full story here.

I don't know about Illinois, but Indiana has an "at will" dismissal law. I would contact a civil rights attorney or go to your city Human Rights Commissioner and file a complaint. In a teachers contract their is typically a "moral" type clause. If a teacher is/acts "unbecoming" that alone is/can be grounds for dismissal. Is she a part of a union? If so, she should go to her union rep.

What did the board accuse her of doing? You state she was dismissed without explanation, then say the accusations are false. Which is it?
