Unfortunately, the Orioles never hold onto talent. I watch almost every game, every night. Each series we see a player that was once with our Organization that we have let go. Some players we have just let go, some left for money. However Peter Angelos never wants to spend the money to make the Orioles a powerhouse. When he does agree to make a move, it always fails. Examples of players that were once an Oriole. Think-Curt Schilling, Mike Mussina, Gary Matthews Jr, Eric Byrnes we had more a year or two, now he is doing awesome in Arizona. And the list can go on and on. We bring old players in that are finished. Why did we get Sammy Sosa? Seat filler. I just hope that the team I love will at least make the playoffs again in my lifetime. Its not looking good! Also, any good Oriole fan should know that the Orioles down fall all started when Jeffery Maier in 1996 ruinned the Orioles when he reached over and stole that ball out of Tony Tarassco's glove. The Orioles would of been a game up and on our way to the World Series.

I think it will be a long time before they will win the AL East. They play in a division against the Red Sox and the Yankees. These two teams have tons of money to spend and phenomenal teams because they can spend more money to get better players. The Orioles have management problems and the owner has made terrible financial decisions.

I actually believe the Devil Rays will compete in the division sooner than the Orioles. They have a young team with tremendous talent. Watch out in the next 3-5 years. With young pitchers like Kazmir, Sonnanstine, Shields, and J.P Howell, they have a good start for the future. They also have hitters like Crawford, Baldelli, Gomes, Iwamura, Cantu, Harris, and Delmon Young.

It's difficult to compete every year against teams like the Yankees and Red Sox who are committed to winning. The orioles have a good organization and seem to be willing to do what they need to do to get back into the mix. Like every other good team trying to be a winner they could use some pitching help. I really believe the Orioles will be very good again soon rather than later.

Within 3 years - once Andy McPhail places his stamp on the team and gets rid of Flanagan and Duquette.

Mr. Angelos has realized the error of his ways and with the Yankees sinking - I can't wait for the O's/Red Sox to be back on top. Mr. Angelos wishes to one up Larry Luccino - no 80 year old Greek man is going to be upstaged by a young buck like Luccino.

Probably when the Yankees are contracted - which is never.

I do have to say. I have know Dave Trembly for about 7 years. I havent seen him though since he left to manager the AA Orioles team. Im glad that he is finally fulling his dream of managing in the big leagues.

I remember watching him manage the Daytona Beach Cubs. You could just see the passion he had for the game of baseball.

Although unlikely, I become the perminate manager of the O's.

When Boston & New York change ownership.

I think they have a stronger shot at the wild card in the immediate future. In the long run, NY will spend what it takes to get past the O's. Same wiht Boston.

I think when guys like A-Rod, Jeter, Posada, Abreu & Matsui have retired...when Papi, Manny, Varitek are all gone...then the O's will be in much better shape.

To win a division, I think unless they have career years out of their starting lineup & pitching staff, I would say they are at least 5 to 7 years away.
