my computer's motherboard is a FIC VB-601. it is running windows xp service pack2. it is using a belkin 802.11g wireless network card.

If the wireless network card it propely installed and you also have a wireless router, then look for the signal coming from the router and connect the computer to it. (double click on the connection's icon in the system tray and choose View Wireless Networks)

The wireless network card won't work without a wireless router.

Read The Friendly Manual (RTFM) for your wireless router and look for WPA encryption.

Then, Read The Friendly Manual (RTFM) for your wireless network card and follow the Windows portion of the installation procedure.

When the WPA passphrases match, it will work.
