and how to feel about that? If I like one thing and you like another, should I just like what you like and forget what I like and become exactly like you or should you become exactly like me? Are we all suppose to become machines and robots and does anyone really think that will really ever work?

You have the right to do what makes you happy , you should never ever do what someone else tells you to think,or be. You should always like what you like and never be what the other person expects or wants you to be. If we're all machines and robots this world for one thing would be very boring. And if we all become robots based off one person the world would be in a more dire state than it is already . We weren't made with different personailties to all be the same , it's good to stay true to yourself no matter how hard that may seem to be sometimes.

Finding happiness is a journey that each must make for themselves. There is no way any two people can have identical likes and dislikes. Each has their own way of enjoying happiness and achieving it. When two are involved with each other, one person's should not override the other. Each should bend a bit to enable the other to achieve that which they are seeking. With that having been said, that is why two should be as close to being like the other in likes and dislikes. If the differences are too great, the relationship will not work in the long run.

Under no circumstance should a person bow down and accept the complete will of the another. This will change the way a person is and will make them totally unhappy with life in general.

Everyone has the right to enjoy life and be happy. The coolest thing about this world is the fact that we are all different and unique. How boring would this world be if we did not have such an enormous variety of people in it. I think the key is to respect each others thoughts, ideas, and interests. As long as what makes you happy is not hurting someone else or yourself, go for it!! Be open to other peoples interests and ideas too. You may find you learned or discovered something you would not otherwise have known if you weren't so open minded. Never give up your real identity or pretend to be someone your not. Do your own thing and have FUN doing it!!

I can tell you how I see that, although I suppose others may differ.

I think we all have the right to own ourselves. That means no one owns anybody.

If I have the right to own myself, that means I not only have the right to choose to do what makes me happy (as long as it doesn't involve physical force on others), I have the right to choose to be miserable if that's what I want to be.

If someone else has the right to tell me what I should do to be happy, where did they get that right? Why should I not have the right to tell others what to do, including the right to tell THAT person what to tell me to do?

The limitations on self-governance are the limitations of what one can do without requiring the assistance of other people. I have the right to sit in a park all day if that makes me happy. I don't have the right to demand anyone take me there, or provide the park, or feed me when I get home.

To be robots or machines is to be less than human, something required of no one by any rational religion. I resent all detailed instructions, especially those which supposedly are God's laws enforced by preachers and pundits with no concept of God's mercy and grace. As Jesus said, "Woe to you, Scribes and Pharisees, Hypocrites, You put unreal burdens on people you won't even use your little finger to lift, You teach as God's Law the traditions of men."

It depends on your personality type. Some people need one and some need the other to be happy. You shouldn't be so judgmental about those who choose or need to live their lives differently. That's doesn't make them "machines or robots". It only makes them different. That's why there are dominant personalities and submissive personalities. Something for everyone.

The goal shouldn't be to be different- if it were the goal, then we would be constantly at war on every level. There is merit in what everyone likes (hard to believe for some things).

You should always be encouraged to go your own way and pave your own road. You are not required to do, like, or be anything because others are that way. You will never be yourself if you go around trying to be someone else.

i think that human beings should try to respect one another, we each prefer different things, we are all human, we have many things in common with one another, and should build bonds, no one mans ways are best for every living being on earth, it is for one man or one woman to find his or her own liberation.

We are supposed to do what God wants us to do.. You have been brought on this earth for a purpose and that's to do Gods will.. You are not here to just live life for nothing.. There is a larger purpose.. Start to read the bible and you will find more of a purpose in this life.
