My GPA is a 3.1, I think. It may have gone up since then(1 semester ago). What is this numerically? It doesn't sound very good. :(. I'm only a junior, so I can bring that up next year. But will the first semester of my senior year make a difference? When are applications sent in? I'm taking an AP class first semester, as well as senior project, where I will be designing and sewing prom dresses for some people as my project.

I want to be a costume designer, this summer I am going to volunteer at a local theatre to help in the costume department. I have also worked on costumes for my highschool plays and taken theatre arts class. I am going to be making prom dresses for my senior project. Is there any thing else I could do?

I'll also have taken 5 french credits(by second semester), an extra english credit and all other requirements.

One last question: Is 3.1 high enough to get into a college for fashion/costume design?

Your 3.1 is typically out of a 4.0 scale. A 4.0 is all A's, and a 0.0 is all F's. A 3.1 is about a B average. That's pretty good. Your grades and classes during your senior year can make a BIG difference. If you get good grades in difficult classes, you can improve your GPA and class rank. Also, so-called "senioritis" during your senior year can hurt you. Financial aid, such as scholarships, can be withdrawn if you suddenly plummet in your studies. Even if it is your last semester/term of high school...Keep your grades up!

There are different options for applying to college. One option is called "early decision". This means that if you are accepted, you plan on attending. No questions asked. Another option is called "early action". I did this. You apply before the regular applications, but are not committed to attend if accepted. And of course, there is the regular admission application. Typically, the "early" options are due before mid-January at the latest; typically due sometime in December. Regular admission can have a deadline anytime after that, and some have "rolling admissions". This means no deadline, and applicants are admitted or denied as they apply.

I am not in the fashion industry, so I cannot help you there. I can suggest that you find some type of dress shop (or even a designer office) where you can work. If you're able to find somewhere that designs, request to be an intern or apprentice. You can learn many things by doing that.

A 3.1 GPA is not bad. Definitely try your best to get it higher, but don't fret over it. You can do anything you want to do if you put your mind to it.

Good luck!

**Sorry about the "hf"... It posted my answer without letting me type anything...haha
