Chrysalis is pupa of butterfly or moth. Cocoon is the secretion of a particular gland.It is a protective material in which the pupa lies in a state called diapause. After a period of pause there is a metamorphosis leading to the formation of the adult. Earthworm too secretes cocoon in which the fertilization takes place and the embryonic development ensues.
